Brushless alternators autonomously generate the direct current necessary to create the magnetic field.
This direct current is obtained by using suitable rectifier diodes connected in the three-phase bridge configuration. They convert the alternating current generated by the excitation rotor into direct current for the main rotor.
The varistors, connected between the positive and negative poles, perform a protection function against transient overvoltages caused by external faults or anomalies (lightning strikes, synchronization errors, short circuits, load peaks, …)
The replacement of diodes and varistors is recommended at predetermined intervals depending on the type of alternator, typically every 30,000 running hours or 5 years.
To ensure the consistent operation and long-term lifespan of your alternator it is essential you buy genuine.
Purchase a DIODE & VARISTOR genuine kit by STAMFORD® | AvK®, means:
- Don’t lose the validity of the alternator warranty;
- Have quality components, selected at the origin;
- Maximize the operating safety of the alternator;
- Harmonize the performance capabilities of the alternator, ensuring stability and reactivity.
Spare parts have a 12 month warranty.
